Internship Fall 2024
MIRA COUTURE
Date: August 2024 - Location: Chicago
In this internship, I worked on the custom bridal design team while also supporting marketing and business operations during fashion shows and events such as modern luxury collaborations. I worked directly with clients and outside designers, managed timelines, and helped develop strategies to elevate brand visibility within the luxury market.
At Mira Couture, I had the opportunity to be part of a team that truly brought clients’ dreams to life. In a world where the tradition of in-house couture has faded, I learned firsthand how Mira’s atelier continues to keep that artistry alive.
I worked closely with the designers and seamstresses, surrounded by the finest fabrics, delicate Chantilly and Alençon lace, luxurious Italian wools, brocades, and silks in every imaginable color. From sourcing swatches to assisting with fittings, I observed how each choice influenced the personality of a garment.
What I appreciated most was the collaborative process. I watched and contributed as sketches were transformed into patterns, custom-fit to a client’s unique measurements, and refined through each fitting until the garment felt like a second skin. I also gained experience with couture-level finishes, such as horsehair hems, built-in corsetry, and hand-applied beading, which elevated every piece into something extraordinary.
Custom design
I had the privilege of being selected from a team of four interns to attend the Chicago Bridal Market alongside lead senior designer and brand owner, Julie Mersine. This experience allowed me to work directly with internationally recognized designers such as Calla Blanche, Netta BenShabu, and Eden Aharon. I participated in the process of previewing their latest collections, assisting in the selection of gowns that would be introduced into Mira Couture’s showroom.
This opportunity gave me invaluable insight into trend forecasting, client demand, and the decision-making process that shapes a boutique’s offerings, while also strengthening my understanding of luxury bridal fashion at the market level.
Chicago Bridal Market
While at Mira Couture, I contributed to both runway shows and high-profile events. I was fortunate to be involved with Porsche, the Chicago Emmy Awards, Modern Luxury Magazine, and runway productions with Zzazz Productions and their network of partnered designers. These opportunities exposed me to a wide range of projects—from behind-the-scenes preparation to client-facing presentations—which strengthened my skills in styling, event coordination, and brand representation. Each experience deepened my understanding of how couture fashion engages with diverse audiences, from luxury clients to industry professionals.

On Day of the Girl, Mira Couture partnered with VOW for Girls to help end child marriage. We donated 10% of sales to support grassroots programs that empower girls through education, leadership, and community initiatives. Since 2019, VOW has reached over 500,000 girls across 15 countries, raising more than $800,000 to protect their right to choose their own futures. Together, we’re working toward a world where girls can dream, lead, and thrive.
